“SANCTUARY”
An exhibit of works that illustrate, portray,
or interpret the theme of Sanctuary.

Artists are invited to submit entries for this
upcoming exhibit at Tall Grass Gallery.
Consider:
Places or times, objects or thoughts of calm, peace,
quiet, isolation, fellowship, friendship.
Creativity or rest. Freedom and release, safety and refuge. Protection. Asylum. Recovery. Drawing in, holding close.
Sharing. Silence or voices joined in celebration, prayer, work.
Possible directions – home, places of worship,
faraway journeys, hidden forest trails, your workshop,
studio, kitchen, bedroom, family dining table, nursery,
classroom, gym, golf course, garden.
Caring for pets, reading in a favorite chair, performing
on a theatre stage, playing a musical instrument.
The symbols of your escape - telescopes, hiking boots,
running shoes, maps, trains, planes. Driving alone in your car. Floating on the water. Writing in your personal journal.
Sharing your secrets with a best friend over lunch.
Shelter from storms, noise, conflict, loss, pain.
Incubator. Laboratory. Places and times to refresh,
rediscover, reconsider, recreate.
Objects that inspire renewal.
Rebirth.

MEDIA, STYLES, ETC.
> This theme might lend itself to a whole range of media –
drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, digital, sculpture,
fibers, glass, ceramics, metal, collage, assemblage,
installation, books, etc.
> Works can range from extremely realistic views
to abstract interpretations.
> Various traditional criteria will be considered in
choosing works for the show - compositional elements,
use of media, technical skill, etc. as well as each artist's
unique vision and choices made, and the impact and
lasting impression of the piece.

RULES:
> Artists may submit up to 5 works for judging.
No more than 5 entries accepted from each artist.
> Shipped work will be accepted. Artists are required to supply
pre-paid return shipping labels with accepted work.
> Applications, entry fees and jpeg images are to be submitted
through the online site www.Entrythingy.com, using the code:

> Questions or problems with submitting to this site
should be sent to Tall Grass at 708.748.3377.
> Works should not have been shown at Tall Grass Gallery
in the last 2 years.
> 2-dimensional work must be wired securely, and ready to hang;
no sawtooth hangers please. If wires show above the top of
the frame they cannot be hung.
> All 2D and 3D works that require special installation procedures
must be installed by the artists themselves.
> Curators reserve the right to refuse work that does not meet
the requirements or is considered too fragile
or too heavy for installation.
> All work remains on exhibit for the duration of the show.
> Unless requested otherwise by the artist, permission is given
to Tall Grass to use any images of exhibited work for
publicity or educational purposes.

FEES AND COMMISSION:
> A non-refundable entry fee of $25 for up to 5 entries
must accompany the entry form at the time of submission.
(Entry fee can be sent through the Entrythingy site; or to
Tall Grass Gallery as a check through the mail, or by
calling the gallery with your credit card information.)
> The gallery retains a 30% commission from
any sales of work during the exhibit.
> Work may be marked NFS.

AWARDS:
> Awards will be given for First, Second and Third Place,
and Awards of Excellence.
> Curators for the exhibit are Claudia Craemer, artist, juror
and curator for numerous regional solo and group exhibits;
and Debbie Craemer, Tall Grass Gallery Committee member
and curator and juror for many Tall Grass exhibits.

Call for Gallery Artists!
Applications for Gallery Artists is now open from now until April 2025!

Q: What does it mean to be a “Gallery artist”?
A: Being recognized as a Gallery artist by the Tall Grass Arts Association indicates that you have successfully completed the “Jurying” process and have been officially accepted as an artist within the organization.
Q: What are the benefits of being a Gallery artist?
A: Gallery artists are invited to participate in our annual art fair, sell items in the gift shop, take part in our annual Gallery artist exhibition, and join our annual holiday market show.
Q: How do I become a Gallery artist?
A: Submit the following using the link below:
Six photographs of original art pieces.
Biographical information.
A non-refundable fee of $35.
Q: What qualifications needed?
A:
Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
All submitted artworks must be original creations by the artist.
Q: Who is on the jurying panel?
A: Our jury panel consists of a diverse group of individuals, both from within our organization and from external sources. They are accomplished artists or educators who teach art at universities or colleges.
Q: How soon will I hear back?
A: Judging occurs from October to April. The response time may vary based on the availability of our judges to convene.
Q: How will I know if I’m accepted as a Gallery Artist?
A: Artists will be notified by mail or email. No results are to be given over the phone.
Q: Is a Gallery Artist different from being a Tall Grass Arts Association Member?
A: Yes, being a member of the Tall Grass Arts Association signifies your commitment to making an annual donation that supports our nonprofit organization, and in return, you will receive various membership benefits.
